Exemplary of one’s inner child, the intention of “The Butterfly” is to represent one’s connectivity to their former self. Introspective in nature, the piece forces its audience to look within and recall instead of recoil memories of their childhood. A more literal implementation is the incorporation of hands reflective of actual children, who helped morph not only the butterfly but the deranged yet beautiful imagery on top. The metamorphisation implies cohesion and connectivity not only bringing a literal element but one which is internal. Sometimes the only way to restore one’s inner child is to see yourself reflected in today’s youth.
